The veteran Slovak director Dušan Hanák introduced his black and white classic Pictures of the Old World (1972) at this year’s KVIFF. In an interview, the filmmaker, who is 84, discusses the inspiration for Pictures of the Old World – and the negative reception it met from the Communist authorities.
