Stefan Arsenijević for KVIFF.TV: All our extras were actual refugees.
As Far As I Can Walk by Stefan Arsenijevic, which captures an African
refugee’s journey across unwelcoming European borders in search of his wife,
was competing for 55th KVIFF’s top prize, the Crystal Globe for Best Film. In
an interview, Arsenijevic explains why the powerful drama draws on an epic
medieval Serbian poem and discusses casting a picture featuring such a variety
of national backgrounds; indeed, one of the leads – a real star in the Arab
world – caused a great stir among the film’s extras, he says.
